Frequently Asked Questions

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive for your scheduled appointment time 5-10 minutes prior to the beginning of your scheduled session which will begin after a thorough intake and the completion of any paperwork.

Where should I park and find your office?

Free parking is available on both sides of the Jefferson Office Plaza.   Parking on the east/right side of the building is more accessible.

What should I wear?

Protocol for undressing depends on your personal comfort level. It is required that you leave your underwear on during the session. Sheet draping will be used to cover privates where necessary. Heather will leave the room while you change. Please shower prior to your appointment and refrain from the use of fragrances such as perfumes, colognes, scented lotions, etc.

How long is an hour?

Many places consider the intake and consultation as part of the "hour". At the end, you may be left with only 45-50 minutes of "hands-on" time.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Gift certificates are sold in person or through the Specials Page on my website. Gift certificates are purchased individually for a specific service or for an amount you choose. Payment is made through ClinicSense secure merchant services. There are no cash refunds on gift certificates. Gift certificates are typically good for three months from purchase date. However, services and rates are subject to change and a previously purchased gift certificate may need to be supplemented with an additional form of payment.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, you will need to do so online or by calling at least 48 hours in advance. Later cancellations or not showing for an appointment will result in a cancellation fee being charged – up to the full cost of the appointment depending on how and when I receive your cancellation. Please call to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

What is expected of me during my sessions?

Sound carries, please do not talk on your cellphone while in the waiting room. Turn off your phone or silence it during your session. Feel free to remain silent during treatment unless you are uncomfortable with temperature, positioning or pressure. Deep tissue or microcurrent treatment usually requires more talking during the treatment.

What is Micro-Current Therapy and what can I expect during treatment?

Electro-Acuscope and Myopulse are FDA approved medical instruments that deliver gentle alternating currents to reduce pain by stimulating the nervous system of the body. This is the most effective and advanced approach to accelerating the healing process and rehabilitation therapy.  Treatment usually lasts 30-90 minutes. A saline gel and two smooth metallic probes are used on the area being treated. Frequencies are emitted by the microcurrent machine. You may feel mild electrical stimulation; a slight tingling sensation.  I will modify settings if you are feeling uncomfortable.  For more info, read...

Are there any risks or side effects associated with micro-current therapy?

In rare cases, microcurrent therapy may cause mild transient dizziness. It is not recommended for pregnant women and people who have pace makers or epilepsy.

Are massage therapists regulated?

Regulations for massage therapists vary by city and state.  I practice in St Paul, Minnesota and am licensed by the city. I am required to present a Client Bill of Rights. This document outlines information about the practitioner, who they are, what they do, what their training is, and what their business policies are. My policy information is included with the intake form you complete before your first session and all other information is addressed on my website.
